Double H – Hole in the Woods Ranch, which serves children who have life-threatening illnesses, is the largest nonprofit in Lake Luzerne. Begun in 1993, it was the second “Hole in the Wall Camp” established by  philanthropist Charles R. Wood and actor Paul Newman.

The Rockwell Falls Public Library closed in 2023, after public uproar over a planned Drag Queen Story Hour. Opposition to the event was led by the pastor of the nearby Victory Bible Baptist Church, which proclaims homosexuality as “sinful and abominable in the sight of God.”
